the mommy mark
ah, the mommy mark. that delightful smudge of spit-up, baby drool, you-name-it on the shoulder of almost every shirt you own. how do you know you're a mommy? the mommy mark. even into the latter halves of my babies' first years, I would inevitably put on a shirt only to find that it had been "marked". thankfully, it's nothing a wet washcloth won't wipe out, in most cases.
now that my littles are a bit bigger, I have discovered my new mommy mark.
seriously, I wash pants after jeans after leggings repeatedly because little hands find their way to mommy's leg and leave remnants of whatever used to be on their hands. I promise I clean their hands, but you know how it is. the cracker/cookie they are snacking on. a little bit of whatever they ate that didn't get cleaned properly and finds its way to mommy's leg. actually, i'll admit, I don't remember this new mark with my oldest. maybe it's a "I have two babies now so I can't be as much of a control freak as I was with the first" mommy mark? maybe so.
regardless, i'm happy to be a mommy. mommy mark and all.
