hair-in-a-hurry: hot rollers

i love my hot rollers. they are a fabulous go-to when i don't have a lot of time to fix my hair.

i remember hot rolling my hair as a young girl. my sister and i would use my mom's hot rollers, but we also had this set of neon orange and green rollers that would add a twisty element to the regular roll. way cool.

i went through a major rolling phase at the beginning of the year up until Levi was born and now that we have moved and unpacked (i.e. found my rollers) and are getting settled in, i'm back at it!

my hair-rolling ritual is to shower and wash my hair at night (i'm typically a morning shower person), let my hair dry while i'm sleeping, then wake up and put the curlers in. this works great for sunday morning, and makes getting ready for church just one step simpler. it is especially conducive with little ones around. just get my hair set and i can attend to the boys' needs while the rollers are doing their magic!

i especially love rollers for the volume enhancement. since having my first baby, my hair is volume-depleted and it makes me oh so sad. the curlers help because you can use them in a way (lifting the hair all the way up and almost pushing the hair forward while rolling down to the scalp) that adds that extra fullness. i also spray the heck out of my hair (the only time i ever use hairspray) once the curlers are in so the curl stays for as long as possible.

so, there you have it. hot rollers. the not-so-secret hair tip for quick hair fixin'.

actual hot rolling in process here. not just a pose for the purposes of this post. :)

  1. i don't know why i am intimidated by hot rollers! i have never used them, so i have no judgement about whether they would be hard or not for me... but i like the idea of a little volume and a little curl--maybe something i should try! :) you are cute in your rollers :)
