these two {levi update}
these days are filled with caring for, teaching, playing with, and loving on our two boys. some days, I am flat worn out. other days, energy comes at just the right moments. oftentimes, it requires a diet coke.
or two.
and since i'm not writing updates as often as I did through their first years, I thought I would catch you up on each of our boys.

oh my goodness. what to say about this little chunkster. he is as busy (if not busier) than his big brother. but his busyness consists of more exploration and curiosity. i am convinced that his motto is "just act confident, and no one will ask any questions". he walks with determination as if he knows exactly where he is going. it's somewhat scary. his most recent fascinations have (thankfully) gone beyond the toilet and now consist of wanting to carry the broom around the house, dig through the sippy cup cabinet (i think in hopes that one of them will accidentally be full of his favorite beverage, milk), and climb on everything in sight.
I can see how he has picked up on the routines around him-- he likes to close the baby gate after we walk through, he goes to the fan when it's time for bed so I can turn it on, he walks to the refrigerator in the mornings and signs "please" for the milk inside. he is always concerned about his brother ethan and likes to know where he is. he is sweet and cuddly with our family, but at the first sight of an unfamiliar face, he will give the most impressive scowl I have ever seen. or purposely look away, deliberately avoiding the person in question. which cracks me up. he has such a personality.
he is starting to enjoy books more, though his attention span for them is way less than his brother at this age. he is "talking"-- mostly animal sounds, "thank you", "mama", "daddy", some form of "ethan", "bye", "night night", etc. he loves the playground just like ethan does and will climb and go down the slide by himself. as if he's five. he will walk up to strange (and scary) dogs and try to pet them. he seriously has no fear.
at his 15-month checkup a few weeks ago, he weighed in at 28.2 pounds and was 31.5 inches tall. he is perfectly proportional and has held strong between the 90th and 100th percentiles of weight and height since he was born. he's just a big guy and his appetite supports it. just in the last month, he has five new teeth, including four molars. the kid's a champ. he loves to sleep, loves his pacifier, loves his daddy, loves to be outside.
he's so stinking cute! his big toothy grin lights up the day. if he is playing and I ask him for a kiss, he will put his lips together and make a "mmm" sound as he walks towards me, plants a big kiss, then continues his interrupted mission. he still loves cuddles, which makes me so very happy. we have quite the physical touch kiddos who love to be held and snuggled. his favorite toys these days include any toy car or truck he can zoom around, his tunnel that he brings to me every day to open and play in, and balls. all boy? why, yes. he is.
he adores his big brother. he will mimic anything he sees ethan do, say words ethan tells him to say (or some version), wants to eat what ethan is eating, etc. speaking of food, I have never seen a kid with such food envy. he could have a steak dinner in front of him and if he sees you with something different, he will reach and ask for it. ridiculous. and pretty much any time of the day, he is ready and willing to be fed. probably has a little to do with his constant on-the-go-ness. at the same time, he knows what he doesn't like and knows when he is done. i'm glad someone in the family is super-decisive. only he doesn't like cheese, which still baffles me. cheese is awesome.
levi is 16 months old. hardly believable. he is lots of fun, adorable, and can be quite huffy when he doesn't get his way. I love being his mama and, even though I feel like he is growing up way too fast, I am thankful he is my baby boy.
