ethan's third birthday was celebrated with spaceships and stars. when I asked him what kind of party he wanted, he answered excitedly, "red!". easy enough, little guy.

I did most of the planning and preparations for the party early on, since we were going to be in Virginia for the week prior to his party. I am so glad I did this, as settling back into our home and adjusting to pacific time zone took more of a toll on me than I expected!
we invited some good friends and it turned out to be a really fun time of hanging out. little boys and girls are easily entertained, so they stayed busy playing the entire time. we also managed to get pictures of most of the kids (there were ten total) in the spaceship photo op that I painted! we later threw beanbags in it (which lasted a total of about three minutes) for a party game.

thankfully, it was a beautiful day, so we were able to have the party in our backyard. who knew I would have to consider an indoor party in june!?! we enjoyed some "rocket dogs", spaceship fruit and cheese kabobs, star-shaped pb&j, and red/white/blue goldfish crackers. I made a cookie cake and "planet" cake pops for dessert.
our little guy is three. he doesn't skip a beat when asked how old he is. I see him growing and changing so fast and it makes me so sad but so proud at the same time. he is such a blessing to us, such a special boy with amazing qualities who I know will do big things throughout his life. we love you, ethan!
