Jesus, eggs, and little boys
we had a fabulous Easter!
this year, we talked about what Easter means for a couple of weeks leading up to the actual weekend. I wanted ethan to know why we celebrate it and why it is such a big deal! come easter sunday, he was well aware of Jesus' death on the cross for our sins, that he was raised from the dead, and that he is alive!!!
we also got easter baskets for the boys this year (well, easter sand buckets to be used in their sand box)! I love stockings at Christmas, so finding cute things for easter baskets was really fun! but the best part of all was giving them to the boys to dig into and seeing their joy as they enjoyed these new gifts!
we had dyed easter eggs earlier in the week, and my husband hid the eggs for the boys to find. hilarious. they were practically lying in the open grass and it still took about ten minutes to find a dozen eggs. levi just wanted to eat them.
on easter sunday, we spent the morning at some church friends' house-- they hosted a brunch and egg hunt. the weather was amazing, the company sweet, and we all had a good time. with one egg hunt already under his belt, ethan was a little better prepared and filled his basket with plastic candy-filled eggs! and he has enjoyed eating the chocolate, too!
we attended our church's afternoon service and celebrated with great worship and baptisms! church-wide, over four hundred people were baptized, symbolizing new creations in Christ! how incredible and exciting!
I have never really thought of spring being my favorite time of year, but how awesome to have a season where new life is all around us, we focus on the death and resurrection of Jesus as he triumphed over sin, death, and hell, and we rejoice that we have been made new in Jesus Christ!
