hair-in-a-hurry

my hair (on Sunday). the longest it has been in a really long time.

let's face it. fixing my hair is last on the priority list the majority of the time. it's down there with dusting the baseboards-- i realize it needs to be done, but who's got the time?

here is how it usually goes with me and my hair: i wear it back in a ponytail most days (hello, i'm a stay-at-home mom). sometimes a ponytail with all my hair through, sometimes the double-back ponytail thingy. when it comes time to go somewhere and look halfway decent, i get dressed, get the boys ready, put on makeup (since when did it become necessary for me to wear makeup in public? no fair, getting older.), we're heading out the door and i think, "shoot, i should have fixed my hair". oh, well.

then, i decide i want to get my hair cut. about 2 minutes later, i am frantically determining when this is going to happen, because it has to happen NOW. good thing i don't cut my own hair. i'd be bald. i then think about it a bit and decide if that's really what is going to happen. sometimes yes, sometimes no.

that was me the other day. absolutely determined to cut it off, to about my shoulders, i decided. i mentioned this to my husband (who loves my hair long), and he sweetly said 'whatever i wanted to do with my hair was fine with him' (that's code for: please don't cut your hair, babe. ever.). i looked at haircuts online (which i wouldn't recommend). i even called the hair salon, inquiring about availability. and then i slept on it. my hair, of course.

i woke up the next day, deciding to wait. i committed to actually fixing my hair for the next few weeks (not every day, just more often than i do now. let's not be ridiculous.) and then, if i still wanted to cut it, cut it i would.

which leads me to this post. options. long hair has a ton of options, right? this is where you come in. i need your ideas, suggestions, thoughts. what do you do with your hair? what's your favorite in-a-hurry hairdo? what products are your go-to for hair fixin'? i'll share some of my ideas, but they are far from exciting, which is why i need and want your help. i think we can help each other out. one mom to another. thanks. in advance.
