levi {eleven months}

well, little Levi, you did it. you successfully began walking before your big brother did. motivated by his busyness and play, no doubt! I knew it wouldn't take long for you to figure the walking gig out, as i saw how you loved your mobility crawling and cruising; and, not a moment too soon, you took those first steps to mama. then, you took a few more. as the days passed, your confidence and desire grew, and you took off!

your pleasant personality truly lights up the day! you are full of smiles and laughs and squeals. you stay ever busy, exploring and discovering. you enjoy people and the attention you get from them. you are starting to "play" games with us-- peek-a-boo is a favorite and I love the way you hide your face and then pop up, beaming! you learned how to clap your hands this month! your "babbling" is still pretty basic, although I am working hard on the mama and dada!

your appetite amazes me. you will eat a.n.y.t.h.i.n.g. it is remarkable. by about 10 months old, I quit with the baby food because I realized you were ready for so much more. we had already been incorporating table food, but now, it's all you eat. you love to feed yourself and you make a delightful mess doing so! you LOVE all veggies, you have eaten all kinds of meat from grandaddy's pork chops, granny's bbq roast, grandma's beef vegetable soup and salmon patties! I know you are so busy growing and moving that I need to keep that tummy full-- you have no problem letting me know! I have also started giving you whole milk during the day with your meals and you took to it without a second thought.

you are wearing 18 month clothing and I am putting you in size 5 diapers, just to simplify life since that is what your brother wears. we have been traveling the entire month, so your mommy is going with simplicity as much as possible!

you go to sleep SO well. thank you, sweet boy. you stand up as soon as you are put in your crib, then decide you really are tired and lay immediately down. you take a morning nap and afternoon nap (anywhere from an hour and 15 minutes to two hours each), and sleep through the night (unless you are growing teeth, poor guy). speaking of teeth, still only the two on the bottom, but, clearly, it's not holding you back. you eat a greater variety of food than most people do who have an entire mouthful of chompers!

you haven't met a stranger yet, but I love the way you bury your head into mommy when others smile and talk to you. you know where your comfort is, and I love every chance to snuggle with you.

some funny things you do include-- bear-crawling on hard surfaces. you started this when crawling became your main mode of transportation and you still do it. your self-preservation of those chubby knees cracks me up! you also are beginning to test mommy by moving towards things you know you're not supposed to (i.e. Christmas tree ornaments, mommy's computer, etc). I say, "levi, no no", to which you usually respond positively. sometimes, though, I have to make my voice a little firmer and you get all kinds of upset. you pout out that little lip and give out a good cry. it is pretty hilarious and completely adorable. (the correction still stands, I just hide my giggles).

you LOVE people and LOVE your big brother, especially! he makes you squeal and makes you smile and I think this will be the case for many years to come! I love to see the two of you playing side-by-side and I know it's a small taste of the brotherhood bond to come! you even wrestle together and i'm impressed with how you hold your own!

ok, enough details of your eleventh month! now for some pictures of my sweeter-than-sweet almost one-year-old!
