dealt bountifully

confession: this week, I knew would be a bit crazy and in all the transition, I never chose a meditation passage! between preparing to fly 3,000 miles, actually flying 3,000 miles, and getting over flying 3,000 miles...let's just say survival has been our MO the last 48 hours.

I have managed to read a bit, though, and in that, God provided some verses that I have been clinging to the past few days.
"Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; our God is merciful. The Lord preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me. Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you." Psalm 116: 5-7

good stuff, eh?

God is SO gracious-- giving us abundantly more than what we deserve! He is righteous-- holy, perfect, true! He is merciful-- oh, if we only knew the things He doesn't give us that we DO deserve!

but this was the kicker for me: "the Lord has dealt bountifully with you". bountifully. i'm thinking abundance, lavishness. not just a quantity of abundance, but quality. His dealings with us are great, but they are good. His righteousness abounds and covers immeasurably. His grace and mercy extend beyond what we can even comprehend. He preserves us and saves us. in Him, there is true rest. find it; return to it. remember what the Lord has done for you and return to Him.
