time in the day
how many times have you thought, or said, "if only i had more hours in the day!". you're certainly not alone. i think we all, at one time or another, have wished that the 24 hours we have been given extended to 25, or 28, or 36...or more. always a lot to do as women/mommies/humans, never enough time.
while reading this book, i was struck with this concept that "I don't have time to do everything I'm supposed to do" was a lie...that i was believing. how profound to think that there may actually be time in every day to do what i'm supposed to do?
i know. some of you are incredulous. you are probably thinking, "yeah, right. clearly she doesn't have the same responsibilities i do. must be nice to think that she can do all she needs to do in a day. if only she had my to-do list!". you're right. i'm not you, so let's not compare. instead, let's look at Jesus. did He have an unbelievable to-do list? you bet He did. heal everyone. teach. spend time with His Father. every.single.day. redeem the human race. and in between, instruct His best friends about life here on earth and what to do when He's not with them anymore. yeah, He was just a tad busy. but, you know what He said?
can you say that? have you ever gone to bed thinking, "man, it sure was nice to finish all my work!". rarely, right?
it's profound, but then, well, Jesus is profound.
i, too, can accomplish the work that God gives me to do. prayerfully considering the time that He's given me to be a steward of, I can choose the activities/duties that He wants me to do and do them.
i have put this to the test, and i'll tell you, it is true! there have been some days (not everyday) where i have an unrealistic to-do list and it just plain doesn't happen. but, as the day progresses, and i continually give my time to God to let it become what He wants (surrender!), the day flows and i see how the things that needed to happen (they may or may not match the ones on the list) did. at the end of the day, i have a peace that i accomplished all that He wanted me to. today.
i hope and pray that i can glorify God on this earth by accomplishing what He wants me to do, instead of filling my days and years with things that aren't what He wants for me.

"I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do". John 17:4
