happy friday
today my little boy woke up with his usual, "mommy, i 'wake, please. mommy, i 'wake, please". (after us teaching him over and over and over not to wake up and cry at the door!). i dragged myself upstairs and scooped him up, we came downstairs and snuggled under a blanket, with everyone else still in bed and the house and outside dark around us. i love those sweet moments.
not more than 30 minutes later, the house was waking, and i and my little one were in the kitchen, making pancakes for breakfast. ethan danced around the kitchen singing over and over, "the sun came up, the sun came up!" (we have also taught him that when the sun comes up, we wake up...when it's dark outside, we go to sleep). i loved hearing him sing his happy song. my husband walked in and ethan told him, "the sun came up!" and said, "daddy, i happy!".
what a way to start the day. simple pleasures and pure joy.
