our Thanksgiving recap

our weekend has been terrific. we have had five fabulous days of family time, food, and holiday celebration!

Thanksgiving Day was done a little different than our years past. since my husband and I are far from family, we decided to make some new fun traditions-- we'll see if they continue in the years to come!

first up, we ran our first Turkey Trot 5K! a local race, we only had to go as far as down the street for the start-- love our neighborhood! a good friend watched the boys so my husband and I could run like the wind without pushing the double jogger. and run like the wind we did-- a whopping 40-ish degrees, we booked it in order to keep warm!

before the race (I kept that hoodie on as long as I could before starting the race!)

enjoying some post-race coffee in my new mug-- a prize given to the first 120 finishers!

back at our house, we enjoyed a yummy brunch to hold us over until our thanksgiving feast that night. having friends over in the evening really made the day feel so relaxed and leisurely. I really enjoyed it! even had time to play some checkers with our sweet boy after we ate our weight in monkey bread and quiche!

don't be fooled. he had no clue how to play.

I know you were all wondering the entire week how my bird turned out...weren't you?! well, good news: she was delicious. I seasoned her and rubbed her down with canola oil the night before, carefully placed her in the oven to cook throughout the day, and pulled her out in time to bake the sides and get everything else ready for our thanksgiving dinner! I was pleased that our guests thought the turkey was yummy, too!

what a pretty bird!

the spread. so thankful to have these seats filled with good friends!

first Thanksgiving! and, boy, did he enjoy the delicious food!

Happy Thanksgiving!
