writing about writing
if you have been following my blog for any length of time (thanks!), you may have noticed that i go through waves with more and less blogposts. i think you can find that this correlates almost perfectly with where we are in life (husband out-of-town, more blogging. new baby/moving cross-country, less blogging). sometimes, though, i have a ton of blog ideas in my head and i just can't sort through the thoughts enough to put it on paper (er, on the computer, i mean). sometimes i might be able to sort my thoughts but can't find the time to get it down, and when i finally do, it's either old news or i think to myself, "who cares? this isn't even very interesting!".
i am still a newbie.
and, i'm learning that it doesn't matter if nobody in the entire world cares or if it's not interesting to a single person...
just write it.
even as i type this, i am considering never hitting "publish". and, the majority of the time, even after i publish my post, i find myself thinking about it, re-wording what i wrote in my head and wishing i had said it that way instead. really? i need some freedom here.
so, here i am, refocusing and thinking through this blogging thing.
i write because i enjoy it. i post pictures because i love my growing family and i want to share a smigden of their cuteness with anyone willing to look. i also want to keep far-away family in the loop of our happenings and a blog is a perfect solution for that. i also have lots of thoughts in my head that i enjoy sorting through. it definitely is a step of courage for me to have those thoughts show up on your laptop, but i think blogs are a fun way to learn about people, so i appreciate that you are taking the time to learn more about me. and, as a not-too-creative person, blogging allows me to stretch my not-too-creative arms out and get comfortable with something that is completely on my timetable and takes no space in my home.
one day, i may throw in the towel on this blog thing and decide that there is better use for my time. but, for now, i'll keep writing.
and, i'll try to be more brave and actually hit "publish" more often. and then just walk away. :)
..and for those of you just in this for the pictures, haha, here are some old ones i found...

I really enjoy reading your blog and seeing your beautiful family. One of the things I love about having a blog is the fact that you can have it printed into a book. Cutest Blog on the Block does it. I found that this was a great way to have the pictures and stories put together in order! Just a thought!
ReplyDeletegreat thoughts girlie, and so so relatable to many of us bloggers! I guess it just comes with the territory to have blog feasts or famines. I enjoy reading your blog and getting to know you even though we are so far away! :)
