Ready, set, go!
I started something yesterday that I've never done completely before. The 30-day Shred. For those of you wondering what in the world I am talking about, the 30-day shred is a Jillian Michael's workout video. (Or DVD, I guess I should say. I think we're the only people I know who still use a VCR). It's a 20-minute workout combining strength, cardio, and ab exercises for a complete, all-in-one, kick-you-in-the-pants workout! I have done the workouts several times since having my first baby, and off and on during the second pregnancy and since Levi was born. But, I've never done the workout as it was intended. 30 days, every day. What better time than when we have moved cross-country, are living in temporary housing, my husband is back at work, and I have "nothing to do", ha! Seriously, though, this is a great time while I don't have a house to unpack, the weather is unpredictable, and i do have a few more pregnancy lbs to get rid of, and two 5-lb weights that would otherwise be collecting dust!
So, the challenge is on! Feel free to hold me accountable as I set out to accomplish this.
And, of course, because I'm a goal/list freak, what do I hope to accomplish in this pursuit? Well, I'm glad you asked! I am hoping to lose a few pounds (5-7, to be exact). I don't have a scale, but I think I'll know when my pre-preggo pants fit a little more comfortably! I also hope to tone up. I managed to lift free weights once or twice a week throughout my pregnancy with Levi, but it would be nice to build more strength (as if carrying a 17-pounder in his car seat isn't enough for strength training!). I am hoping that this challenge will make that task a bit easier! Finally, I think this challenge will help encourage discipline in other areas. We eat healthy foods for the most part, but there is much room for improvement. Isn't it interesting how discipline in one area helps build discipline in others? I dread getting in a rut, but I crave the routine.
Ok, let's see how this goes!
