baked spaghetti

italian food. delicious. spaghetti or lasagna, how can a person decide? how about a combination of the two?


i found this delicious recipe for baked spaghetti a few years ago here. i love the all recipes website-- it is fabulous for putting together meals with the ingredients you have on hand as well as finding and tweaking recipes for your favorite dishes.


this baked spaghetti recipe is easy to make and great for company, because you can prepare it in advance. in fact, like lasagna, it is probably better to make the day prior to serving.


{baked spaghetti}


1 16oz package spaghetti

1 pound ground beef

1 medium onion, chopped

1 26oz jar meatless spaghetti sauce

1/2 tsp salt

2 eggs

1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese

5 Tbs butter, melted

2 cups cottage cheese

4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese


cook spaghetti according to directions. in the meantime, cook beef and onion until meat is no longer pink; drain. stir in spaghetti sauce.

in a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, parmesan cheese, and butter. drain spaghetti, add to egg mixture and toss to coat.

place half of spaghetti mixutre in a greased 9x13 baking dish. top with half of cottage cheese, spaghetti sauce, and mozzarella cheese. repeat layers. cover and bake in oven at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. uncover; bake 20-25 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.
