metamorphosis

i have been working through an issue recently, one that i knew would take a lot of prayer to get through. i was praying that God would prepare my heart in the situation, but other than that simple prayer, i wasn't doing a lot to let Him.

thankfully, a simple prayer is all it takes sometimes.

as i went back and forth between trusting that God is faithful and fearing unhappy circumstances, He gently and sweetly reminded me that my happiness in this (or any) situation was not dependent on the circumstances, but rather on the condition of my heart. basically, i could allow Him to change my heart, or i could continue to depend on external things to make me happy. it was up to me.

and then it all came full circle for me. i remembered that God is less concerned about what's going on around us and more concerned about what's going on inside of us.

one of the things i look forward to most as a follower of Jesus is that church-y word glorification, when this earthly body will be changed, the sin nature will be eliminated, and we will see Christ in all His glory. however, another church-y word i am thankful for is sanctification, separated unto Christ and becoming more like Him every single day. i am grateful that Jesus doesn't save us, then leave us as we are. instead, His Spirit inside of us molds us, grows us, changes us to more greatly reflect the light of Jesus Christ.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"
2 Corinthians 5:17

Oh my - such powerful words -- truth. So often I think we fight and fight and fight that surrender. Beautifully written, and a needed reminder for me.

    Blessed by your post today.
