More moving miscellaneousness

More on moving...

1. I'm not as sentimental as I thought I would be. I haven't cried yet*-- except when we got an offer on our house-- but that doesn't mean I'm not sad. I thought packing/moving day would be hard, but it has been ok. Seeing all our worldly possessions get loaded on a big semi has surprisingly made me more excited about the next house, not less. I am thankful for the grace poured out over me and my family during this time.

2. The military doesn't allow facial hair. Well, for some reason, mustaches are acceptable, but unless you're my dad, I think I like you better without one. A beard, on the other hand, I am a big fan of. During this cross-country move where my husband doesn't have to go into work for a couple of weeks, he's going to let it grow. The stubble is already shaping into a nice beard and I'm liking it. He reports for duty on may 1st and off the facial hair will go. Sigh.

3. I need to enjoy the fact that this is the first and last move where I won't have to explain to a child that "he'll make new friends in the next place we live" and "you're going to love your new school" and all the other reassurances that go along with moving. yay for having little boys who just go with the flow (so far). albeit the crazy flow that it is.

4. this has nothing to do with moving, but i signed up for twitter (arthomasson) and instagram (art0316) both in one day last week. i have yet to "tweet" (can't decide what to say...) but i am loving instagram! follow me!

*ok, since beginning this post, i have cried. of course i have! i said goodbye to most of my family saturday night. the tears came. lots and lots of them. but it was good. good because we have lived life together, loved each other, and shared many memories and experiences.

alright, not the fanciest post. but if i didn't just write and publish, there would no post this lovely monday! happy monday to you all!
