big boy update
it has been a while since i've done a real update on the boys. funny how i spend all my time with them, but can't seem to find time to write about them.
ethan is 21 months old and is as busy as ever. he is definitely progressing into more all-boy, climbing, playing, and running activities! i absolutely love watching him use his imagination to zoom cars, trucks, and planes around the room, or pretend to be an animal and crawl around roaring at me and his little brother. i love seeing his tender side as he kisses Levi non-stop, tries to put the pacifier in Levi's mouth or the blanket over his new little brother, or (his new thing since Levi was born) covering his stuffed animals with blankets or pretending to feed them. it is truly incredible to see how these little ones learn so much and you realize how much they are watching!
as on-the-go as ethan is, he loves to sit and watch "mic-mouse" or "memo" (nemo), read books (rather than being read to...and when he's finished reading each book, he exclaims "ba-bye!"), or find some random activity (i.e. emptying a basket of its contents and put each thing back in, repeat) and play for 30 minutes uninterrupted! his vocabulary is quite large and i can tell he is saying more phrases now and not just words! as always, the kid loves music and can sing along to familiar songs really well! it makes me smile to hear him sing along to "jesus loves me" or "God is so good" and "amazing grace" before bedtime. one of my favorite things he does is say "bwess!" when he hears someone sneeze (or cough)! so sweet!
ethan is still a great eater most of the time, but we are working on a more diverse menu (i.e. making him eat what we eat for dinner). unfortunately, i made the mistake while my husband was gone last fall of feeding him a lot of the same foods and not cooking a lot (i'll do things differently with this next one!). he is definitely at an age of testing and trying (that deserves a post in and of itself!) as he expresses his will and is learning how to handle an array of emotions inside of him. but, at the end of the day, he is still my sweet little boy, getting bigger every day!
