evelyn claire {fifteen months}

Our little sweetheart is 15 months old!

What is Evie up to these days? Just about everything! She started taking her first steps the week she turned ONE and she hasn't looked back! She is pretty stable on those two little legs and she is keeping up with her brothers really well. She likes climbing, much to my dismay. Maybe I need to stop referring to my kids as "little monkeys"! Mainly my desk chair-- she will stand there tapping away on my computer until someone comes and rescues her back down to the floor.

Evelyn smiles a lot. She really is my little sunshine. And she can now "sing along" when I sing that song to her. Her joyful and contagious smile have turned into sweet laughter, aimed at whoever and whatever. She is particularly amused by the silly antics of her big brothers. Please don't encourage them, Ev.

Have I mentioned in all my monthly posts how sweet a baby she is? I feel like the third can be the firecracker or the sweet calming bliss in a family's dynamics. My boys are pretty spectacular, but I tell people that Evelyn is the perfect third child. She goes to sleep with hardly a fuss, eats, plays, rides in her carseat, etc. Such a gem. When your kids are every-other-second apart in age, it is truly a gift and I am receiving that gift with lots of gratitude!

We're done nursing. Officially. Right around her birthday, we were down to just a random middle-of-the-night feeding every other night or so (or every night, who can keep track?), and that lingered until, oh, about two weeks ago. I think my trip to California was the perfect timing for making the end official. (For anyone who cares, I was able to breastfeed all three until about the same time-- fourteen/fifteen months. Also. this is the first time in 5 years, yes FIVE, that I am not pregnant and/or nursing. Holla!).

Evelyn eats just about anything, but seems to really love vegetables, cheese, blueberries, yogurt, ok, maybe anything we give her. I'm starting to let her use a spoon with her yogurt or applesauce, and she does great! She drinks whole milk and water and still uses her pacifier (mostly for naps/bed) but I'm not too picky about it yet.

Evelyn is wearing 12-month clothing and size 3 diapers. I'll find out on Monday how much she weighs, but I'm guessing 23-ish lbs, so she'll be in 18-month clothing soon (maybe by Christmas?).

Evelyn is pretty independent. It will be fun to watch her little personality unfold even more, but as of now, she seems to have such a content demeanor. She jumps in and plays and just goes with the flow. She definitely loves attention and will play peek-a-boo, read books, sing songs, and roll the ball (the new thing the boys and I are teaching her).

Evelyn is already saying words! Dada, mama, "we-vi", some version of ethan, and she will attempt any word we regularly use (milk, diaper, ball, shoes). AND, I think she's really smart, Like, intuitive smart. When I hold up a sock as I dress her, she extends her leg out to me. When I tell her I need to change her diaper, she walks over and gets the wipes. Yesterday and today, she picked up her dirty diaper and threw it away. Maybe the boys did this and I just don't remember-- they definitely are sweet helpers-- but I feel like she picks up on things pretty fast!

Okay, enough writing, time for some pictures! :)
