action sequence

The action sequence is always the best part of the movie. You know, the part where things really start happening, the momentum builds, and the main character goes through some sort of transformation.

My favorite movie action sequence is in Rocky II. If you remember, Rocky wanted to fight Apollo Creed again and Adrian was a big fat N-O. Who can blame her? Her man got creamed in the first movie. Rocky trained regardless, but it was pretty crappy. Then Adrian gives birth to their baby, she is in a coma or something, Rocky is distraught, blah blah blah, and she finally comes out of it. She tells Rocky that there's something she wants him to do for her. "Win." Dah-da-da-da-da-da....cue inspirational music and let the action sequence commence. Rocky starts training like a real fighter. And it's awesome. Man, I get chills.

Well, not quite to the same level of drama or inspiration, but I have had my own action sequence rolling here. Since August, I have been studying for my national board exam to stay certified as a Physician Assistant. The early mornings have become a sweet time for me-- spending time in the Word (as I wake up), a cup of coffee, and my study books. This time around, there has been so much joy. Not like jumping out of bed joy, but an excitement for re-learning the information, working towards a goal, and quite honestly, it's from Jesus. A mere three months earlier and I was stressed, frustrated, and well, NOT joyful. Praise the Lord for HIS timing and HIS grace.

My text is next week. November 8th to be exact and I am SO ready. I would appreciate your prayers for clear thinking, remembering what I've studied, and to pass!

Below are some pictures from a review course I was able to attend last week. Five INTENSE days in LA, learning with colleagues. Ten-hour lecture days, followed by a 2-hr practice test each night! As I said, intense, but incredibly helpful. I will do one of these with every recert from now on!

All ready to go! Heading to the airport, without a single baby!

Let's do this! My view for 5 days straight. That notebook on the right? Just everything I need to know for my test.

Let's just say Urology doesn't get me going. Haha, or maybe it does. Bad joke. Anyways, some subjects just require an iced coffee.

And the practice test. When was the last time YOU bubbled in a scantron exam? Or used a pencil, for that matter?

Coming back home to these three munchkins was a delight! I had a great time, learning with and meeting fellow PA's (I love my profession!), but it was a sweet reminder that I am exactly where I am supposed to be.
