evelyn claire {eight months}
trying hard to keep up with these {every other month} posts!
Evelyn Claire is eight months old! She is such a sweet addition to our family and it just gets sweeter every day. Her big brothers are still smitten, and Ethan particularly (because he is older) has a special bond with her. He wants to help feed her and play with her, and he especially enjoys "cheering her up" when I can't get to her right away-- he prides himself in making her smile and loves that their names begin with the same letter. Levi will give her sweet cuddles and hand her toys and is concerned when she's not around ("go Eh-eh-en?").
Evelyn is on the move! She has begun crawling and can get around fast. She is a motivated crawler-- pretty content to sit and play unless she wants something far away or if mommy walks into the other room, then she's off! She is starting to reach her hands up on the sides of chairs or the couch...we all know what's coming next!
Evelyn hasn't been the best through-the-night sleeper. Between bouts of nasal congestion and teething, she will wake up once or twice a night for comfort. We are starting to get back to normal, but the truth is, with a third baby, I just feed her and we all go back to bed! she doesn't take much to get back to sleep, thankfully. She still naps, usually two times a day, but with an occasional third nap in the evening.
Evelyn is a good eater-- she is nursing 4-5 times a day (and maybe once at night), and eating solids at all meals. For a while, she wasn't too keen on "solids" that I pureed for her, so I just starting giving her real food. bits of pieces of what we were eating; chunks of cooked sweet potato, squash, banana; peas and carrots with tiny pieces of chicken; and a staple in our house, peanut butter crackers. she does really well for someone with no teeth. ;)
Speaking of teeth-- they are on their way, but no sight of them yet. Bless her heart, she is chewing on everything, but seems ok otherwise.
Evelyn LOVES bouncing-- we borrowed a bouncer from a friend (since our's broke!) and evelyn is really enjoying the new exercise. it is a great option for when I need to get some things done and I can put her in while I exercise or on the front porch while we play outside.
Some sweet moments with Evelyn (with three, you have to work hard for individual time!) are usually when the boys are in room/nap time and she and I get a few minutes before her afternoon nap. she will "sing" when I sing to her and I love hearing her sweet voice. She has started clapping her hands and is super proud of her accomplishment! she lights up with the attention she gets from mommy and daddy and loves watching her big brothers play.
Evelyn is wearing 9 month clothing (a few 6-month items still) and still in size 2 diapers. at her last doctor's visit, she was 17 and a half pounds. she is healthy and happy, and so dainty.
Evelyn, we love you, precious girl! you are such a gift to us and such a joy to be around! I love watching you grow and learn every single day. We pray that God saves you at a young age, and that He will use you in great ways to advance His kingdom, as you love and serve Him all the days of your life!
