a lot of miscellany to catch up on

seriously. I have attempted at joining in on Miscellany Monday's several weeks now. but never quite get around to finishing the post! anyone with kiddos resonate with this one?!

i'll stick with a quick catch-up, to make sure I actually get around to posting it!

1. great outdoors
we spend the entire morning hiking, climbing, and getting dirty. it was good for my boys, good for us all. we dressed in old clothes and went to a nearby trail (4 miles from our house! have I mentioned how much I am going to miss this place?!) and off-roaded it to explore trees, mushrooms, leaves, dirt, you name it. we climbed up and ducked down. we piled up leaves and jumped in them (ok, I didn't do that one, wearing the baby and all). we taught ethan about sap and counting tree rings. I love family time.

off for an adventure!

time to explore

snuggling with this sweet girl

2. speaking of boys
I just started reading a new book, "Wild Things: the art of nurturing boys". so good. while both authors are Christians, the book's focus is less on spiritual and more on the physical and emotional needs of boys through each stage of development as well as brain development, learning styles and response to learning environments. I have probably concluded some of their points over the last three years, but enlightening is the best word I can use to describe what I am reading. it is immensely helpful as a mom to understand more of what (in general) makes boys tick and how I can encourage their learning and development in the coming years. I am glad to be reading this book now and not in 15 years!

yep, that's about right

3. speaking of girls
sweet evelyn is growing so fast! three and a half months already! I get so many comments while I am out about what a beautiful baby she is-- I completely agree, and her sweet temperament is note-worthy, too. such a sweetheart, content and relaxed, I am so thankful!

doing a little dance

how adorable is that face?

I almost feel guilty for having so much fun getting her dressed!

she looks like a baby doll. still sleeping in the cradle in our room.

a little blurry, but too cute!
