surprises of the best kind

i love surprises. not like jump out from behind the door and scare me surprise, but the fun unexpected.

we definitely got our fun unexpected a few weeks ago. my husband and I went into our 20-week ultrasound for baby T3, 98% confident that this little one was a boy. I mean, of course it was. I have felt the same as I did when pregnant with both boys. the whole "heart rate" theory was on target (lower HR means boy, higher HR means girl). at our 11-week ultrasound, we were almost positive we saw little boy parts. all we had discussed were boy names (to no conclusion, I might add!). with lots of boy clothes in the attic, and two busy and excited big brothers-- bring it on, baby boy #3!

not so much.

throughout the entire ultrasound, my eyes were peeled, looking for the tell-tale sign on the male gender. I couldn't find it, but figured the ultrasound tech, at any moment, would point it out. finally, at the end, she exclaims, "it's a...GIRL!"!!! my husband and I both said, "no way!" at almost the exact same time. a girl!!! we were pretty excited and both full of smiles.

it's always fun to be surprised.

we would have been just as happy if this one was going to a boy. and I would be lying if I said that the thought of a girl doesn't make me a teensy bit nervous. but, we are THRILLED that we will be adding some pink to our family of four come august! i'm so thankful for the way God is growing our family!

now, to decide on a name...

the almost-twenty week belly
