trip to America's southwest: phase three

you thought i forgot about phase three, didn't you?

nope. just being lazy!

for most of you out there, phase three probably isn't that exciting. however, our entire trip out west was planned around this week. i am a South Carolina delegate for the House of Delegates in the America Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), the national organization for PAs. the AAPA national conference was held in Las Vegas this year, which is why this become our ultimate vacation stop. as nerdy as it sounds, i really enjoy the House of Delegates (let's refer to it as HOD, so i don't have to type it out every time!). the HOD meets each year at the annual conference and discusses issues related to public policy, PA practice, certification, etc. it is here, in the HOD, that votes are taken and PA history is made. it is an honor for me to sit in the midst of these seasoned healthcare providers who have so much experience in and passion for their profession. being here makes me thankful that God led me to become a Physician Assistant and proud of the role we play in healthcare each and every day.

walking through the gardens of one of the hotels in vegas

so, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday were kind of like Groundhog Day. i sat in meetings all day, my sweet husband and baby played in the hotel room until i returned; at night, we headed out and grabbed dinner (and inevitabley went to Target-- seriously, every day, we would realize we needed something else that we could get at Target-- hey, in Vegas, we could have done much worse), then back to the room for bed.

well, not exactly like Groundhog Day. wednesday morning, i woke up and, minus the details you don't need want to know, i took a pregnancy test. i wasn't exactly "late", just eager. i have to admit, i was a little surprised when i saw this....

p.s. two lines means you're pregnant!

p.s.s. i didn't take all three tests that morning! i just wanted to confirm before we told people and got everyone excited!

needless to say, my husband and i were ecstatic! we were so excited to get home and tell our families and enjoy this fun news!

the news delivery was our favorite part! we had planned to celebrate ethan's birthday upon our return home, so family was already coming and we had a birthday party put together for saturday night. i found a super cute shirt that read "i'm going to be a big brother", so we let ethan open it at the end of his party as our "announcement"! it was so fun seeing everyone's surprised faces and excitement, all at once!

here is our sweet baby, baby Thomasson #2, at 8 weeks:

we are so excited to meet this little one! we are thankful for God's timing in growing our family and allowing us the joy of another sweet baby!

that about does it for phase three. :)
