O-N-E
a little late, but as promised, ethan's 12 month update!
the big news of ethan's 12th month is that he is now walking! he took his first steps with mommy and daddy the week he turned 11 months old and there has been no turning back! this boy is on the move! he quickly gained confidence in his new mobility and, despite a few trips here and there, he stays busy!
i am so proud of him! ethan is a spectacular sleeper and eater, he plays so well, and loves to interact with others. he'll play all day given the opportunity, but he still sits on my lap to read books and let me cuddle with him. he gives the best hugs EVER, usually when getting him up from sleeping. he "talks" a lot, babbling sentences that only he can understand. i usually mimic him and he grins up at me, like he gets the joke! he also says "duck", "woof-woof" (when he sees a dog), and "uh-oh" (after throwing food off his tray, so not really a correct use of the word...)!
since returning from our trip out west, it is only big-boy food for this kid. he likes to self-feed with his fingers and we are learning how to use the spoon (if mama would relinquish control). as of a week ago, ethan is almost completely weaned, minus an early morning feeding that puts him back asleep for a few hours. no hurry, though. it has been a sweet year and a special time for us and i know nursing ethan will come to an end soon enough.
ethan has bunches of exciting toys, but his favorite things seem to be the toilet (yes, you read that correctly), mommy's house plants (apparently, the soil is tasty), the tupperware cabinet (designed specifically for our little man), and any sticks or rocks he can find while playing outside! he does love carrying around his wooden hammer, his round blue block (always the one he picks), and his new "little people" toys he got for his birthday.
at one year old, ethan is 31 and 1/2 inches tall and weighs 23 pounds! our long and lean boy!
we are staying busy this summer going on walks (ethan riding, not walking), going to the pool, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying charleston as much as possible!
as always, here are pictures from the past month!
