get over it!
so, no bridge run pictures. sorry, friends! i didn't want to risk taking the camera and losing/damaging it!
that is a basket he is sitting in (usually has diapers in it) and that is a picture book of our family he is holding. guess he missed us!
the cooper river bridge run is one of the top 5 races in the country and this morning's bridge run experience lived up to that claim! i woke up with butterflies in my stomach (even though i wasn't even racing it!) and excitement was in the air!
race day highlights:
1. 40,000 people is a lot of people. it makes me smile to see that many people willing to show up early to exercise, whatever their motivation!
2. kenyans are fast. for the first time, i was able to watch the elite runners. what an exhilarating experience, to see the group softly and speedily run by. there was definitely a quietness as they raced along and we watched in awe. the winning time was 28:59. that is a little over a 4-1/2 minute mile pace!
3. 10K, ha. try 11 miles, folks. by the time you park your car, walk to the start, walk the actual race, take a shuttle back to mount pleasant, and walk back to your car, you've logged about 10-11 miles. not surprisingly, i don't think mom and i even came close to running out of things to talk about!
4. funny race day story: on the way to the race start, i stopped and asked a group of participants a question. one of the ladies asked if i was from tampa. i said no, and she said "oh, well i know some other Corrals and didn't know if you were related". bless her heart, she read my race bib that said "Corral J" and thought that was my name, not my corral bracket. i couldn't bear to tell her, so i just played it off, as if i get asked that all the time! haha.
5. i said no pictures, but here's one: my sweet sister emily watched ethan while i went to the race. here's what he was up to...
I thought about you guys today as I took off on my neighborhood walking path to get in some cardio. The day could NOT have been more beautiful for the bridge run. The weather was simply amazing. I just knew there were a ton of happy people out there enjoying it. Ethan looks SO cute in the basket looking at pictures.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the picture of Ethan looking at his little family album. He is too sweet!!
