tourist in your own town miscellaneousness

having guests in town is a great way to get out and do things! it is so easy, especially with little ones, to let time pass and not explore all the fun things around town and beyond.

we were thankful to have family come stay with us over the past few weeks! brian's sister and parents were both here and we were able to get out and do some fun things during that time.

1) water boy. ethan is two and clearly, playing in the water is a favorite activity!
we were on the way back from visiting the glass museum (way cool, by the way. ok, it's actually extremely warm in there, due to the constant glass heating! but absolutely amazing to see what goes into this fascinating artwork!). along the way was a water fountain-- ethan found it entertaining to "water" his head-- he seriously would have done this for hours!

side note: he insisted on wearing his sock on his hand most of the day. i have no clue why, but i called him michael jackson, in a good way. ;) don't kids do the funniest things?!?!

2) day hike. for my husband's birthday this past weekend, we planned a fun day outdoors! picnic lunch and baby gear in tow, we headed to a nearby town for some hiking! i love hiking-- such great exercise and there is something so exhilarating about being outdoors, surrounded by the sights and smells of the woods, and enjoying God's beautiful creation!

3) local hiking and market fun. there is literally a trail smack-dab in the middle of our neighborhood. one minute, you're on the street and the next you are in the woods, away from everything hustly and bustly. we hiked this fun little trail with brian's parents, then on our way back home, stopped by the local farmer's market. we all feasted on the local produce for our lunch. ethan ate two containers of blueberries-- almost completely by himself!

strumming his tummy guitar and enjoying the tunes, this kid LOVES music! he stood here for at least 15 minutes, listening to the band play and dancing along, until we finally convinved him it was time to go!

4) pike place. what's a trip to seattle without hitting up the famous pike place market?! 

dahlias. my new favorite flower. i tried to convince my husband that Dahlia would be a great name for a future daughter.
he wasn't convinved.

5) GO Raniers! we went to our first local baseball game! 

the sad thing about carrying the baby facing-in...poor guy doesn't get his face in any pictures!
