evelyn claire {eleven months}

my mom brought it to my attention that i skipped evelyn's 11-month update! woops. thanks, mom!

we celebrated evelyn turning eleven months by going to Disney World! ok, not really, but that is how it timed out. and she was a gem. i mean, you would hardly have known we had a baby as we walked around the Magic Kingdom in 90-degree weather. she's the best. and our boys were pretty incredible too.

evelyn is cruising! not yet standing and not walking, but she is becoming increasingly mobile around furniture and cabinets and whatever else she can get her hands on. she is so long and lean, which is more noticeable now that she spends more time upright.

evelyn eats a lot and a lot of everything. she loves meat (turkey, ham, beef, chicken, you name it) and her veggies. and of course fruit-- blueberries seem to be a big hit. i started feeding her whole milk sometime this month and she loves it! i was initially using the cute pink sippy cup i bought for her and wasn't seeing a whole lot of progress. i switched to the straw cups like her brothers use and she is a champ! and, might i add, adorable as she purses her little lips to drink. aww, evie!

we are almost positive we have a first word. we don't hear it a lot, but when we do, it is always in the correct context and very clear. are you ready for it? "bye-bye". yep. she waves her sweet little hand (still waving at herself at this point) while saying bye-bye. it's precious. she will say ma-ma and da-da, but not always in relation to me and brian. oh, and one time, we swore she said "toes" when we were pointing to her toes and our toes. anyways.

evelyn is in 12-month clothing, but mainly because i bought all/mostly 12-month summer stuff, so i started her in it for our Florida vacation. still plenty of room and there are a few 9-month things we're still wearing. but i absolutely love her 12-month clothes! have i mentioned how much fun it is dressing up a little girl?!?! she wears size 3 diapers and probably will be for a while.

i have always described evelyn as content. she is. and pretty independent. she is happy to wander around our living room and find thing to pick up and taste, then she cruises around some more for more entertainment. she loves being near her brothers and endures their hugs and kisses quite patiently. she bounces and squeals with delight at her daddy! she loves when we sing to her, play games like "peek-a-boo" and "hide and seek", and swinging at the playground. we read books and she is anxious to turn the next page, which i guess is more exciting than looking at the pictures.

evelyn is back to sleeping great! hallelujah. maybe it was just a growth spurt that has us up all hours of the night. she usually goes down around 7:30pm and will sleep til 7 or 8.

no top teeth yet! oh my word, any day now! enjoying that partially gummy smile a little bit longer.

we love you, evelyn! what a wonderful eleven months it has been!
