evelyn claire {ten months}

oops. almost completely missed the ten month update of our baby girl!

these months are all running together...is that bad to say? when exactly did she start crawling? pulling herself up? cruising? i think it is correct to say that the tenth month brought strong pulling-up skills. evelyn, if you are 15 years old and reading this-- we love you SO much! occasionally (and by that, i mean almost all of the time), our days are full and busy and the exact details of each day are...well, a blur. but, not to worry, that's something i get to deal with. you get to be cute and adorable and sweet and precious.

you are in 9-month clothing, size 3 diapers. you eat a ton, but i think you have a wooden leg like your biggest brother. :) seriously, you eat almost anything-- you especially like meat, and vegetables, and bananas, and graham crackers. i mean, who doesn't? i love watching you pick up your food and work it up to your thumb and forefinger.

you get at least 10 minutes of doting when you wake up by these adoring big brothers. they ooo and aahh over you and call you sweet nicknames like "evie poo" and "ev" and "sweet gwirl". i have to give them their few minutes before i can even feed you.

you clap your hands and get very excited about this new skill. you have started waving AND giving kisses. so you're pretty much the cutest 10-month-old ever. you kind of wave your hands when you hear music. i think you're bound to have good rhythm and dancing skills. and you enjoy being sung to. you like to come "find" me when we play on the floor. most of the time i can find you in a corner chewing on toys or books. i keep saying this, but your top teeth are most certainly coming in tomorrow.

we need to talk, evie. you have started waking up at night. like a lot. don't get me wrong, i love you to pieces, but this reverting to newborn stage is a bit much. maybe it's a growth spurt? teeth? are you too warm? too cold? not getting enough food in that wooden leg? (the issue has since been resolved, so i can joke about it with much less sleep deprivation and a clearer head).

this tenth month had a big adventure for evelyn-- her first airplane ride! she and i traveled to SC to visit family and celebrate aunt Emily's college graduation! we had a wonderful time and evelyn was a great traveler!

it was during her tenth month that we dedicated Evelyn at church. this means that we agree as her parents, entrusted by God with her throughout her life, to teach her the way of Jesus Christ; to point her to Him; to teach her the Bible and love her, shepherd her heart and model a life loving God and His people. we had a moment (among the other parents dedicating their children) to read a verse we chose for our child. i picked Psalm 16:11, a verse that has become increasingly special to me this year.

"You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore."

Our hope and prayer is that Evelyn (and all of our kids) would know the treasure that IS christ; that HE would be their joy; that their lives would be fully found in Him.

i hope you know what a joy you are, Evelyn Claire! you are a happy and content baby girl and we enjoy you SO much and are increasingly thankful for you!

i can't think up a caption to match this cuteness!

i love snuggles with this sweet girl.

she will stand and watch her brothers for their entire bath.

she doesn't seem to like the traveling arrangements.
