one week down, FOREVER to go...
sweet little Ethan is one week old! he is growing and changing so much already...definitely a good thing, but hard to believe! i think time flies even faster when you have kids!
as our first week of parenting came to a close, the learning curve was super steep. here are some happenings from the week...
1. peepee teepees are probably a great invention. ethan has already squirted himself twice (in the face, bless his heart) and brian multiple times...somehow mommy hasn't experienced this yet...either brian is changing many more diapers than i am (quite possible), or she's just a lot quicker! ;)
2. going anywhere with a baby is much more difficult than i imagined...i am so thankful for brian's help!
3. i thought i could fall asleep fast before having a baby..now i am amazed that as soon as i lay ethan down after mid-night feedings, i am pretty much asleep before my head hits the pillow!
4. our new hobby is staring at our baby. what did we do before he was in our lives? countless times throughout the day, we look at him and say, 'oh, he's so cute!' as if we just realized it for the very first time!
5. i now walk around and can smell ethan. not that he's stinky, i just constantly smell that sweet baby smell, which has to be one of the best smells ever, by the way!
6. who knew washing a newborn was a 2-person job? i mean, really. we are both accomplished people, yet when it comes to bathing our child, we can't go it alone. i mean, someone has to take the pictures, haha!
7. gross has a new meaning. it's just baby pee, poop, spit-up, etc...who cares if it's on your clothes?
8. being a mom is so incredible! i wouldn't trade it for anything!
week 2, here we come!
