random stuff on a miscellany monday

1. ethan is learning his colors and doing so well at nailing them most of the time! we quiz him when we go on family walks by showing him flowers in the neighboring yards. when i give him m&m's, i always make him count them first and tell me which color is which (hey, nothing wrong with making dessert educational, right?). well, my husband came in the room the other day and said that he taught ethan the color gray (not one we have covered yet). apparently, he had asked ethan what color a c-17 was and ethan replied "pink"! ha!

2. it is HOT. i think washington hit a record high this weekend in the low 90's! i know most of you would give anything for such a moderate temperature, and i enjoyed the sunshine as much as the next guy, but the difference is...we don't have AC! whew! who knew getting in the truck and riding to church would be such a relief!? after cooking dinner this evening, i was tempted to visit our local fast food chain with golden arches just for some cold air...and maybe an ice cream cone. i'm sweating as i type this. BUT, i know that in just a few days, those mid-70's temperatures will be back and i'll be wishing for some warm again!

too cool for kool-aid

water table fun! thanks, granny and grandaddy!
3. it's a big week for Levi: solid food has become a regular part of his diet and he loves everything so far-- sweet potatoes, squash, avacado, applesauce, and bananas! i put him in church nursery for the first time on sunday. he's so good during the service, i thought i would keep him with me forever, but he is wiggly and heavy, and it is probably better if i am able to not be distracted during worship. he did great and the volunteers took great care of him, but you would have thought he was my first-- i almost didn't want to hand him over! finally, this little big guy will be SIX months old on thursday! he is such a precious boy!

first taste of watermelon...i'm thinking it won't be his last!

avacados got an interesting first response! (he then proceeded to finish them off!)

and i just love this picture. and i love this boy!
