30, 21...who's counting?

30-day shred. i did it. sort of.

maybe we'll call it the 21-day shred, in my case. i can explain.

you see, i took sundays off. that was the plan from the get-go. and then, well, we moved. life was a little crazy. there were boxes all over my house. let's face it: i was a little preoccupied.

the workouts were challenging and each level increase caused a rewarding soreness. there were several times where the dvd had to be paused so i could calm a crying child or get ethan set up with some toys. i'm not gonna lie-- i was thankful for the 30-second break. all that said, i really enjoyed my partial shred. i feel so much stronger. from day to day, i could tell that my body was responding to the harsh treatment jillian inflicted. push-ups became easier. carrying my 20+ pound almost-four-month-old became a little less strenuous, my clothes started fitting better. i did miss my cardio, though. really missed it. i ran a few times a week throughout the shred (maybe that can make up for the 9 missing workouts??), and enjoyed this cardiovascular and mental release. all-in-all, a great workout and i will continue to use it (and have) on days i can't get the kids out for a run or walk.

so, thanks for being a big part of my motivation to get up and workout while my son ate his breakfast each morning or kids were underfoot (hey, got to fit it in when you can). ethan now picks up the jillian dvd and says "exercise" and knows how to do jumping jacks. i'm glad i did my 21-day shred. maybe i'll tackle it again someday.
