boy vs. nature
nature deficit disorder. have you heard of it? it's a twenty-first century disorder that suggests that children are spending less time outdoors (duh) and, as a result, are experiencing a wide range of behavioral problems. sad, but not necessarily shocking, considering the surge of technology and urban life.
this past weekend, ethan and i took a road trip to virginia to visit with my husband's parents. ethan spent a lot of time outdoors-- riding in a wheelbarrow, helping his grandaddy work in the yard, and on a walk with his mama through Surrender Battlefield (one of my favorite places to visit when we're in Yorktown). ethan loved every minute of it. i think he's definitely going to be a nature boy, playing in the dirt and making a mess of himself and having a great time doing so! see ya later, nature deficit disorder!
while at the battlefield, i took the opportunity to practice some photography on one of my favorite subjects. :) the colors of spring were gorgeous and ethan was able to munch on some flowers in the process!
